We may not all have been to see the poppies in London, or been lucky enough to receive one of the ceramic poppies, but the time is here again when volunteers are needed to sell poppies for the British Legion.
Poppy Appeal Coordinator, Bob Chamley is looking for volunteers to sell Poppies at Morrison’s Boroughbridge Store starting on Monday 2 Nov until Saturday 7 Nov.
Anyone who would like to volunteer for a two hour slot should contact Bob on 01423 324608.

After 20 years in Boroughbridge, Philip and Nicola Smith are moving to the parish of Bedfont, in the London district of Hounslow to continue their ministry. Philip has been first Curate, then Vicar of the United Parish of Boroughbridge, Aldborough, Roecliffe, Minskip and Dunsforth since 1995 and Nicola has
served on Boroughbridge Town Council as well as working as a nurse at Harrogate District Hospital.
Various events have been taking place as Philip has been taking his last service at each of the churches. At St James’ Church, Boroughbridge, on 16th June, a BBQ was held after the family service, and Philip was presented with a set of books.
We all wish Philip and Nicola well, and look forward to seeing them when they visit our area in the future.
The Walkers are Welcome network of towns from the Northern region had a get-together last Monday.
As Boroughbridge is one of the over 100 WaW towns nationally, 3 members of the Boroughbridge Walks Group went along to Kirkby Stephen where the event was held. They enjoyed an interesting walk on some of the many paths around the town, including (a very small) part of the famous coast to coast walk. Time was also given over to meeting with the representatives of the other 20 towns and discovering what was happening elsewhere within the network. After a lovely buffet lunch it was time for more networking and gathering names of new friends and plenty of new ideas before heading off homewards.
