One of three new gargoyles to have been designed, created and installed on the outside of the Cathedral has been chosen to appear on this year’s Ripon Cathedral Beer Glasses. The designs for the new gargoyles were announced at the 2016 Beer Festival from a number of entries by local stonemasons. The winning gargoyle was created by York stonemason Martin Coward.
The Beer Festival takes place on May Day Bank Holiday Monday, from 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in the Dean’s Garden of Ripon Cathedral.
Visitors to the festival will enjoy live music, great beers and delicious hot food. There is something for all the family including a bouncy castle, face painting and craft table for the children. Live music from Two Well Worn singing duo, King Courgette, the Elders, Leon Marshall are supporting the Festival.
The event has been kindly sponsored by CNG a commercial gas supplier based in Harrogate that is committed to supporting the local community and is also delighted to have become the Cathedral’s Principal Business Partner for 2017.
We are also grateful for the support of our new Principal Business Partners Stratstone BMW and Mini who will be showcasing their latest models at the Beer Festival.
Many other local businesses have generously supported this community fundraising event, with a view to raising more funds towards the proposed new development plans. Ripon Cathedral Renewed, supporting the Dean’s development plans for a 21st Century Yorkshire Cathedral.
Hambleton Ales, Rudgate Brewery and Rick Jones, from the Water Rat in Ripon are once again supporting this year’s Beer Festival.
A number of local breweries are also supporting the 2017 Beer Festival which will feature a selection of ales, Hambleton Ales, Wold Top Bitter, Rudgate Brewery Jorvik Blonde, Roosters, Yorkshire Heart , Timothy Taylor’s, Theakstons, Black Sheep, Five Towns Brewery, York Brewery, Classic Blonde from Clark’s and lots more. The ever popular “Old Sleningford” local grown cider will be on sale, plus Pimms, wine and soft drinks.
Entrance to the event will be £4.00 for adults, this includes entry and a chance to win a Luxury Yorkshire Food & Drink Hamper.
